New School Jazz & Classic Cocktails
presented by Red Light Arts & Culture
Starting June 7, 2025 – our very own RLAC Jazz Series kicks off!
Twice a month we will celebrate local contemporary jazz in one of Amsterdam’s most iconic spaces – The Brokers Bar, located in the historic Beurs van Berlage.
In this elegant, classic setting, expect the unexpected: thrilling performances from the new wave of jazz artists. Think inventive grooves, sharp improvisation, and touches of the avant-garde – all paired with expertly crafted cocktails and a distinctly stylish atmosphere.
Following each concert is a player’s session – stick around till late to experience fresh combos meeting each other through music, and bring your instrument if you’re a jazz player.

19 July – Imprevisti: Lorenzo Servali
Imprevisti is a collision of musicians from different backgrounds who have come together to realise the compositional vision of Lorenzo Servali, another one of our neighbors as well as part of the team organizing these jazz nights. This band takes its name from an Italian word: unexpected events.
At its core, the soul of the music lies with the immortal Bologna-grown singer-songwriter Lucio Dalla, with a Coltrane-powered message in a Pino Daniele tarumbò-style ambience, brought into the modern spectrum of sounds inspired by the productions of Moby and Massive Attack. The music of Lorenzo is nostalgic of intimate and warm memories.
Tickets €10 at the door or via BASH
5 July – Gabriel de Oliveira
Somewhere between Brazil and the Netherlands, improviser-songwriter Gabriel de Oliveira creates imaginative anti-pop for global generations. As “Saturno Santos’ Something”, their universe takes shape as a rotating ensemble committed to exploring the mystery of “folk” traditions while in the flow of urban globalized life. Joined by Zenzele Mthembu-Salter and Niels Luteijn, they cast a bright ritual of visceral groove and heartfelt melody.

21 June – Agus Fulka
Aletheia will take to the stage. This folkloric-jazz ensemble is led by Agus Fulka, a Argentinian/Spanish guitarist and composer who blends flamenco, jazz, and South American influences into a contemporary chamber of sound. Rooted in improvisation and shaped by the storytelling tradition, the band plays poetic, wordless tales that explore the idea of “modern folklore.” Aletheia is composed of AgusFulka (guitar and compositions), Alistair Payne (trumpet), Alessandro Fongaro (double bass), and Frits Steeghs (drums).
