how it all began
InsideOut:
Pop-Up Concerts
In August 2020, we started a series called InsideOut: Pop-Up Concerts. These short, professional concerts in unusual places were a great success and reinforced our idea of an organization focused on connecting the neighborhood through classical music.
We also want to provide a stage for young, local musicians and creatives and offer paid employment opportunities at a time when they are scarce.
The musician plays a short program of 10 minutes, three times over the span of two hours, in the doorways and windows of buildings along the canals. The musicians play a varied program of diverse classical music at unusual locations and we create the opportunity for these small business owners and entrepreneurs of these locations to share their story and connection to the area.
In this way, we connect the audience not only with each other and the music, but also with the location and therefore with the neighbourhood itself.
